Why Give a Gift?
Your gifts are my sole means of income and support. Your gift is simply that; a gift of which you expect to receive nothing in return. I do not receive gifts lightly, I know that each of them is a gift from God to provide for my needs as I do the work He has called me to do. What has He called me to do? Protect the vulnerable, Act with courage and integrity, Rebuild what is good that has been destroyed. This involves many facets and is presented throughout this entire site.
God has asked me to do what to many seems like the impossible.

Receiving Government benefits ALWAYS comes with strings attached:
Government Control over your life, finances, assetts, medical autonomy and decision making.
It is a system that utterly fails its constituents and enslaves them to it over time, because it is nearly impossble to escape once in.
It is a boot down rather than a hand up.

Why was I receiving Government support?
My husband, the father of my daughter, divorced me. She has Down Syndrome and is in need of 24/7 care.
I have always been her sole caregiver and continue to be. I was a stay at home mom and educator (homeschooling her) while married and determined to continue to do so.
Shortly after my divorce I thought I had no other option than to apply for government assistance in order to provide for the barest necessities of life. Her child support and my alimony combined were less than $1,000 per month.
Why didn't I place my daughter in school and go back to work?
Divorce is traumatic on any child, ours was compounded by numerous factors.
It was not an option for my daughter to go to school. Her doctor and therapist support this decision based on her specific needs.
Why I did not want my daughter to go to school:
SAFETY: Schools are a dangerous place. My daughter is at high risk of physcial and sexual abuse, has medical conditions that are exacerbated in environments outside of home and is an easy target for bullying, intimidation and manipulation. This is why I advocate for Homeschooling, why I ran for School Board and why I have built this website. I have done the research and I don't believe school is safe for any child.
QUALITY OF EDUCATION: I am a firm believer in homeschool education. We tried perochial education when she was little and although she had one teacher that was excellent I was not impressed with the therapies, the behavior of other children that she was learning from and the constant battle to get the bare minimum of what she needed to help her learn. Homeschooling has given her what she needed, one on one instruction and nurturing in safe environment infused with our Christian values.
Why don't you just keep relying on the Government?
Since turning 18 my daughter no longer receives child support from her father and I no longer receive alimony. This is by court order of the judge that handled the divorce. My daughter is not capable of working or making adult decisions that are crucial to her safety and welfare.
The Government will no longer allow me to receive Medicaid for my medical care. This is policy now that I no longer have a dependent child. My daughter is now an adult and regardless of her disability and need for constant care, they do not provide that benefit.
The goverment has very few options for those in my situation and it takes months and more often years from time of application to get any other form of assistance for the caregiver or disabled person if at all. I have been going through the process. I applied in August 2023 and have not received any assistance as of yet even though she qualifies and has been accepted. This has forced me to acquire a considerable amount of credit card debt to keep us from becoming homeless.
Why don't you get help from Charitable Organizations or Church?
I have exhausted all charitable organizations; Catholic Charities, St .Vincent DePaul, Salvation Army etc...This includes reaching out to numerous local churches as well. These organizations typically only allow you to receive assistance one time per calendar year and are not always able to help depending on the current demand.
My #1 Reason to EXIT GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE:
